Shikshya Foundation Nepal in collaboration with KathaSatha present: Go Tell It On The Mountain: Screenwriting Workshop for Nepali feature film writers, conducted by Bhavani Iyer (writer of Black, Lootera, Guzaarish, Raazi, Sam Bahadur).
WHO CAN APPLY
A script writer from Nepal who has written a feature film script (doesn’t need to be produced). We especially encourage women, janajati, gender nonconforming writers from marginalised and adjacent communities to apply.
HOW TO APPLY
A brief bio or introduction of the applicant;
A logline (100 words max), a short description of the story of the script you want to workshop;
A synopsis (1000 words max), a summary of the plot of your story with all major characters and story points.
A sample of the first 15-20 pages of your feature film script.
LANGUAGE
Your screenplay must be a feature film and NOT a documentary. It can be a movie with song and dance, an indie, a “festival film” or anything across all genres;
Your screenplay, logline and synopsis can be in English or Nepali (with the aim to produce a Nepali feature film);
You must have a basic understanding of written and spoken English. Sessions will be conducted mainly in English, and interpretations in both Nepali and English will be available.

This program is free. There is no cost for application or attendance. Note: This is NOT a residential program.
WILL MY IDEAS BE PROTECTED?
We will share your script only with a small group of trusted readers including the guest facilitator and selection committee. All applicants who get selected for the masterclass must complete a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to ensure the protection of creative works. We do not take possession of any writer's intellectual property.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Bhavani Iyer is a multi award winning screenwriter of landmark films like Black (2005), Guzaarish (2010), Lootera (2013), Raazi (2018), Sam Bahadur (2023) and web series Kaafir (2019), Breathe: Into the Shadows (2020), The Empire (2021). She is one of the most respected screenwriters of Indian cinema.
Her upcoming films are: ’Kamal Aur Meena’ for SaReGaMa Films by Siddharth P. Malhotra. ‘ Lohri’ for Reel Life Films (Producers : Salman Khan- Atul Agnihotri) by Meghna Gulzar. ‘Junoon’ For Ishtaa Films (Producer : Suchchanda Chatterjee) & Jio Studios. ‘Akbar Birbal’ for Phantom Films (Producer: Shrishti Behl and Madhu Mantena). ‘Maharani Gayatri Devi’ for In10 Entertainment & Jio Studios. ‘Rana’ for Matargashti Films by Shree Narayan Singh.
Bhavani also mentors at various screenwriting labs, and teaches at various institutes in India and abroad.
